Nature Immersion
Our woodland setting has such a positive impact on us - and we know it will on you too! The benefit of grounding, and physically interacting with the nature that we are part of is becoming widely recognised. Touch the trees and feel the ground on your feet - we know your mind and body will thank you for it
Private & Communal Sessions
We offer private sessions for groups of up to 10 people, and communal sessions where individual spots are booked to share the spa with the other bathers
Our Sauna & Hot Tub
Our Traditional wood-fired sauna was made in Lithuania, with a panoramic window that looks out across the beautiful woodland - immersing you in the beautiful surroundings of Candleston Woods
Our off grid wood-fired Hot Tub is just a few steps, nestled amongst the trees you can sit and bathe in the warm water while birds sing around, tilt your head back and look up to the beautiful tree-scape above and you might be just lucky enough to spot deer run past
We're located off the beaten track in the peaceful surroundings of Candleston woods. A 100-acre woodland just a stones throw from the sand dunes and village of Merthyr Mawr
FAQs
-
What should I bring with me? What should I wear?Swimwear with no metal fastenings (as this can get hot in the sauna and cause injury). Please also remove metal jewellery. We recommend arriving with your swimwear on under your clothes to make the most of your time slot as changing time is part of your session duration WHAT TO BRING WITH YOU - Swimwear - we recommend arriving with this on 2 towels - 1 for sitting on in the sauna and 1 for drying off afterwards Drinking water - in a non-metal bottle if you wish to take it into the sauna Slip on footwear - e.g. flip flops Warm clothing for afterwards A changing robe (optional)
-
Is there a changing area?We have a bell tent set up in the woodland where you can change comfortably and you can also use our large toilet areas. Please arrive in your swimwear to make the most of your slot once your time in the sauna is over you can head back to the bell tent or use the toilet areas to change.
-
Is there an age restriction?Yes - no under 16's permitted in the spa area at all - this includes the sauna and the hot tub. 16-18's need to be accompanied by an adult at all time. We do not permit children to wait around on site while you use the spa area.
-
Where can I park? There is ample free parking available for sauna customers. Check out our Location page for more information.
-
Can I pay onsite? We require all bookings and payments to be made online before attending a sauna session.
-
Do I stay in the sauna for the whole time slot? Do I have to get in the cold water? No, not at all. We recommend staying in the sauna for 3 - 15 mins at a time. This will depend on many factors, so it's best to listen to your body. If you're a new sauna user, it's best to start small, maybe 3-5 mins at a time. You can cool off between sessions by stepping outside. We have a cold shower, drench bucket, and cold immersion barrel next to the sauna. Again, please listen to your body and experience level when it comes to using these.
-
I need to cancel/reschedule - what do I do?Cancellations and reschedules can be made with a minimum of 48hrs notice. Cancellations can incur an administration fee of £2 for private bookings and £1 for communal bookings. Reschedules are free of charge. To cancel or reschedule please email info@theoutdoorsauna.co.uk
-
Can I be naked in the sauna? We ask that everyone wears swimwear for the sessions.
